Beef Patty Preparation

Form the Patty
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground sirloin with salt and black pepper. Gently mix to combine and form into a ½ pound patty.

Onion and Cheese Preparation

Sauté the Onion
While the patty is cooking, slice the medium onion into thin rings. In a small skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they become soft and caramelized.

Assemble the Patty Melt
Once the bread is golden brown, flip the slices and place the cheese-topped patty on one slice of bread. Top with the sautéed onions and then cover with the other slice of grilled bread.

Finish Grilling
Press down gently with a spatula, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side until the bread is crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
