Corn Chips

Method

Corn Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each white corn tortilla into quarters to create triangle-shaped chips.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add a handful of tortilla triangles to the hot oil. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Season with salt while they are still hot.

Homemade Salsa

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

Dice the tomatoes, red onion, and jalapeños (removing seeds if you prefer less heat).

  2. 6

    Mix the Salsa

In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeños, and chopped cilantro.

  3. 7

    Add Seasonings

Stir in the lime juice, salt, and garlic powder. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

  4. 8

    Chill and Serve

Let the salsa sit for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator to allow the flavors to meld. Serve it alongside the hot corn chips.
