Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ham Steak

Remove the bone-in smoked ham steak from the packaging and pat it dry with paper towels. This will help the glaze adhere better.

  2. 2

    Make the Glaze

In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until you have a thick glaze.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Skillet

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. If you have a cast iron skillet, it works best for this recipe.

  2. 4

    Glaze the Ham Steak

Brush half of the prepared glaze over one side of the ham steak. Place the glazed side down in the hot skillet.

  3. 5

    Cook the Ham Steak

Cook the ham steak for about 5-7 minutes on one side until it develops a nice caramelized crust. While it cooks, brush the remaining glaze on the top side of the ham steak.

  4. 6

    Flip and Finish Cooking

Flip the ham steak carefully, and cook for another 5-7 minutes on the other side until heated through and caramelized. If using pineapple slices, add them to the skillet during the last few minutes of cooking to warm them up.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve

Once cooked, remove the ham steak from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice and serve with the warm pineapple slices if desired.
