Add macaroni to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Whisk in the flour to create a roux and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.

Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and thickened, about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce, stirring well to coat.
Topping and Baking

In a small bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs and melted butter.

Fold in the crumbled bacon and diced tomato into the macaroni and cheese mixture.
