Lumpia Filling

Method

Prepare the Filling

  1. 1

    Mix the Vegetables

In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely shredded cabbage, julienned carrots, bean sprouts, and chopped green onions.

  2. 2

    Season the Mixture

Add minced garlic, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to the vegetable mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

  3. 3

    Chill the Filling

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the filling for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Prepare the Dipping Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes until well combined.

  2. 5

    Set Aside

Set the dipping sauce aside to allow the flavors to develop while you prepare the lumpia.

Assemble the Lumpia

  1. 6

    Prepare the Wrappers

Lay a lumpia wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you. Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling near the corner.

  2. 7

    Roll the Wrapper

Fold the corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll tightly away from you. Seal the edge with a little water.

  3. 8

    Repeat

Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling until all lumpia are assembled.

Fry the Lumpia

  1. 9

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).

  2. 10

    Fry the Lumpia

Carefully place the lumpia in the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.

  3. 11

    Drain

Using a slotted spoon, remove the lumpia from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Serve

  1. 12

    Plate the Lumpia

Arrange the crispy lumpia on a serving platter.

  2. 13

    Serve with Dipping Sauce

Serve the lumpia hot with the sweet chili dipping sauce on the side.
