Method

Veggie Burger Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Black Bean Patty

In a bowl, mash the black beans with a fork until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture. Stir in the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and form into two patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

  3. 3

    Caramelize the Onions

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 10-15 minutes until the onions are soft and caramelized.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Burger

Toast the brioche buns lightly. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a black bean patty, a slice of Swiss cheese, and a generous amount of caramelized onions. Top with tomato slices and the other half of the bun.

  5. 5

    Serve

Enjoy your delicious homemade veggie burger!
