Beer Battered Onion Rings
Method
Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel and slice the onions into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer, mixing until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, making sure it is fully coated. Carefully place the battered rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-4 minutes per side.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
