Burger Patty Preparation

1. Prepare the Beans

In a large mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

2. Mix Ingredients

Add the cooked quinoa, rolled oats, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mashed beans. Mix until well combined.

3. Form Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

4. Cook the Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook each patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.

Assemble the Burger

5. Prepare the Buns

Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly if desired.

6. Add Lettuce

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun.

7. Add the Patty

Place a cooked veggie patty on top of the lettuce.

8. Add Toppings

Layer with tomato slices, avocado slices, and red onion. Add ketchup and mustard to taste.

9. Complete the Burger

Top each burger with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
