Method

Preparing the Batter

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Dry and Wet Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Cooking the Pancakes

  1. 4

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.

  2. 5

    Cook the Pancakes

Pour about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges appear set, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 6

    Flip and Finish Cooking

Carefully flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and keep warm.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Warm

Serve the pancakes warm with a pat of butter and drizzle with maple syrup to taste.
