Method
Ice Cream Base Preparation
- 1
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- 2
Chill the Base
Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results. This helps the flavors meld and improves the texture.
Flavoring the Ice Cream
- 3
For Vanilla Ice Cream
After chilling, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours to firm up.
- 4
For Chocolate Ice Cream
Before chilling the mixture, whisk in the cocoa powder until fully combined. Then follow the same churning and freezing steps as for vanilla ice cream.
- 5
For Strawberry Ice Cream
Blend the fresh strawberries until smooth. Fold the strawberry puree into the chilled base before churning in the ice cream maker. Follow the same churning and freezing steps.
