For the Ponzu Sauce

Method

Preparing the Tuna

  1. 1

    Sear the Tuna

Heat sesame oil in a skillet over high heat. Season the tuna steak with salt and black pepper. Once the oil is hot, sear the tuna for about 30 seconds on each side until the outside is browned but the inside is rare.

  2. 2

    Chill the Tuna

Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it cool. Once cooled, wrap the tuna in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Slice the Tuna

After chilling, use a sharp knife to slice the tuna into thin pieces.

Preparing the Mixed Greens

  1. 4

    Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine mixed salad greens, thinly sliced cucumber, radishes, and halved cherry tomatoes. Toss gently to mix.

Making the Ponzu Sauce

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, lemon juice, mirin, and finely chopped green onion until well combined.

Plating

  1. 6

    Assemble the Dish

On a plate, arrange a bed of mixed greens, then lay the sliced tuna on top. Drizzle ponzu sauce over the tuna and garnish with sesame seeds.
