Method

Tuna Preparation

1

Prepare the Tuna

Start with high-quality fresh Tuna (Maguro). Rinse it under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. It's important to ensure the fish is very fresh.

2

Season the Tuna

Sprinkle the sea salt and freshly ground black pepper evenly over the tuna. Drizzle sesame oil over the fish and let it marinate for about 10 minutes.

3

Slice the Tuna

Using a sharp knife, cut the tuna into thin slices. Aim for about 1/4 inch thick slices for optimal texture.

Sushi Rice Preparation

4

Cook Sushi Rice

Rinse 1 cup of sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions or in a rice cooker.

5

Season the Rice

Once the rice is cooked, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl until dissolved. Fold this mixture into the warm rice gently.

Serving

6

Plate the Tuna

Arrange the sliced tuna on a serving platter. You can create a decorative pattern or simply lay them flat.

7

Add Accompaniments

Serve the tuna with soy sauce, wasabi, pickled ginger, and chopped green onions on the side.

8

Serve with Sushi Rice

Serve the seasoned sushi rice alongside the tuna for a complete meal.
