Method

Prepare the Sweet Potato Filling

  1. 1

    Cook Sweet Potatoes

Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into small cubes. Boil in a pot of water for about 15-20 minutes or until tender. Drain and let cool.

  2. 2

    Mash and Mix Ingredients

In a bowl, mash the cooled sweet potatoes with a fork or potato masher. Add brown sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until all ingredients are combined. Set aside.

Make the Roll Dough

  1. 3

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle active dry yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center.

  3. 5

    Mix Dough

Add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg into the well of the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.

  4. 6

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assemble the Rolls

  1. 7

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 8

    Spread Filling

Spread the sweet potato filling evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  3. 9

    Roll and Cut

Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a log shape. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

  4. 10

    Prepare for Baking

Place the cut rolls into a greased baking dish, cover with a cloth, and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.

Bake the Rolls

  1. 11

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 12

    Bake

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Prepare the Topping

  1. 13

    Mix Topping Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the milk quantity for desired consistency.

  2. 14

    Drizzle Over Rolls

Once the rolls are baked and have cooled slightly, drizzle the topping over the rolls before serving.
