Method
Sushi Rolls
- 1
Prepare the Sushi Rice
Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, let it cool slightly.
- 2
Season the Rice
In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the warm rice. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
- 3
- 4
Assemble the Rolls
Place a nori sheet shiny side down on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top. Lay strips of cucumber, avocado, and crab sticks in a line along the bottom edge of the rice.
- 5
Roll the Sushi
Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, pressing gently to form a tight roll. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- 6
Slice the Rolls
Using a sharp knife, slice the rolls into bite-sized pieces. Serve with soy sauce and wasabi.
Sashimi
- 7
Prepare the Fish
Using a sharp knife, slice the fresh salmon, tuna, and yellowtail into thin, even slices. Arrange them neatly on a plate.
- 8
Garnish
Serve with pickled ginger on the side.
Nigiri
- 9
Prepare the Shrimp
Boil the shrimp until pink and cooked, about 3-4 minutes. Let cool and peel.
- 10
Form the Rice
Wet your hands and shape a small amount of sushi rice into an oblong mound.
- 11
Top with Fish
Place a slice of fresh tuna or salmon on top of the rice mound. Repeat to make additional nigiri.
- 12
Serve
Arrange the nigiri on a platter and serve with soy sauce and wasabi.
