Method

Preparation of Marinade

  1. 1

    Make the Marinade

In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, mirin, sake, and brown sugar until the sugar is fully dissolved. Set aside.

Cooking the Salmon

  1. 2

    Marinate the Salmon

Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over the top. Ensure all pieces are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.

  2. 3

    Preheat and Prepare

Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat. If grilling, lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.

  3. 4

    Cook the Salmon

Remove the salmon from the marinade and discard the marinade. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill or a baking sheet if using the oven. Cook for about 6-8 minutes per side until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.

  4. 5

    Add Sesame Oil

Once cooked, drizzle the sesame oil over the salmon fillets for added flavor.

Garnishing

  1. 6

    Prepare Garnish

Chop the green onions finely and sprinkle them over the salmon fillets. Add sesame seeds on top for a crunchy texture.
