Method
Marinade Preparation
- 1
Combine Marinade Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined.
- 2
Marinate the Beef
Place the thinly sliced beef in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the beef, ensuring it's fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
Cooking the Beef
- 3
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet or wok, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 4
Cook the Beef
Remove the beef from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and add it to the hot skillet. Sear the beef for about 3-4 minutes until browned, stirring frequently.
- 5
Add Marinade
Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet with the beef. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef.
Garnishing
- 6
Garnish the Dish
Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle the cooked beef teriyaki with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
