Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice Vegetables

Thinly slice the bell peppers and onion.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Protein

If using steak or chicken, chop it into small pieces. If using steak burgers, shape them into 2 patties.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced bell peppers and onion, season with salt and black pepper, and sauté until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Cook Protein

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. If using chopped steak or chicken, add it and cook until it is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. If using steak burgers, cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until fully cooked.

  3. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add the sautéed vegetables back to the skillet with the cooked protein. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Place the slices of Pepper Jack cheese on top of the mixture in the skillet. Cover the skillet and let it cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare Hoagie Buns

Slice the hoagie buns open without cutting all the way through.

  2. 8

    Fill the Buns

Spoon the cheesy steak or chicken mixture into each hoagie bun. Be generous with the filling!

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your delicious Philly Cheese Steak!
