Method

Beef Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix well without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions. Form each portion into a ball and flatten them slightly into patties.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patties in the skillet. Smash the patties down using a spatula to ensure a good sear, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side.

Cheese and Vegetables

  1. 4

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid to help melt the cheese.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the lettuce, tomato, and onion. Keep the slices ready for assembly.

Sauce

  1. 6

    Make the Thousand Island Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, and Dijon mustard. Mix well until smooth.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Build the Burger

Toast the brioche buns lightly on the skillet if desired. Spread a generous amount of Thousand Island sauce on the bottom bun. Layer with lettuce, tomato, and onion slices. Place one cheesy beef patty on top, followed by the second patty. Top with more sauce and cover with the top bun.
