Mix Marinade Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

Marinate the Steak
Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.

Prepare the Bread
Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise. If desired, toast the bread lightly on the grill for added crunch.

Assemble the Sandwich
Spread the smoky mayo on both halves of the bread. Layer the shredded romaine lettuce, pickled red onions, sliced steak, and chimichurri sauce on one half. Top with the other half of the bread.
