Fried Pickles

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In another bowl, whisk the eggs and buttermilk together until well combined.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Bread the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the egg mixture, then dredge it in the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully drop the breaded pickles into the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles hot with your homemade ranch dressing.

Ranch Dressing

  1. 8

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 9

    Adjust Consistency

Add milk a tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached, mixing well.

  3. 10

    Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
