Method
Nashville Chicken Sandwich Directions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Chicken
Remove chicken from the marinade and let excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing firmly to ensure an even coating.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add breaded chicken. Fry for 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Assemble the Sandwich
On the bottom half of the burger bun, place lettuce, followed by the fried chicken, sliced tomato, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
- 6
Serve
Serve the Nashville Chicken Sandwich hot with your choice of sides.
