Cilantro Hummus Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the chickpeas

In a pot, combine the garbanzo beans, baking soda, and enough water to cover the beans. Let them soak for at least 8 hours or overnight. After soaking, drain and rinse the beans.

  2. 2

    Cook the chickpeas

In a pot, cover the drained chickpeas with fresh water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let simmer for about 1 hour, or until the beans are tender. Drain and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Blend the ingredients

In a food processor, combine the cooked chickpeas, cilantro, salt, lemon juice, tahini, and vegetable oil. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed to reach desired consistency.

  4. 4

    Taste and adjust

Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning with additional salt, lemon juice, or oil if necessary.

  5. 5

    Serve

Transfer the cilantro hummus to a serving bowl and drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with additional chopped cilantro if desired. Serve with pita bread or fresh vegetables.
