Prepare the Nut Filling
In a bowl, combine the chopped nuts, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.

Prepare the Phyllo Dough
Thaw the phyllo dough and preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Assemble the Baklava
Brush the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish with melted butter. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough in the dish and brush it with butter. Repeat this for 7 sheets. Sprinkle a thin layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo. Continue layering phyllo sheets (with butter in between) and nut mixture until all the nuts are used. Finish with 7 more layers of phyllo on top, brushing each with butter.

Cut and Bake
Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.

Finish the Baklava
Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and pour the syrup evenly over the hot baklava. Let it cool before serving.
