Cake Base Preparation

Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Flavoring
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in almond extract and lime zest.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
Miso Pear Topping Preparation

Prepare the Pears
Peel and slice the ripe pears into thin wedges.

In a bowl, combine white miso paste, honey, lime juice, and ground cinnamon. Stir until well combined.

Almond Crumble Preparation

In a bowl, combine almond flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. Mix until crumbly.
Assembly and Baking

Combine and Bake
Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan. Top with the sautéed pears and their sauce. Sprinkle almond crumble evenly on top.

Bake the Cake
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
