Method

Cake Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat and Prepare

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Flavoring

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in almond extract and lime zest.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Miso Pear Topping Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Pears

Peel and slice the ripe pears into thin wedges.

  2. 7

    Mix Topping Ingredients

In a bowl, combine white miso paste, honey, lime juice, and ground cinnamon. Stir until well combined.

  3. 8

    Sauté the Pears

In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the pear slices and sauté for 3-4 minutes until soft. Pour the miso mixture over the pears and cook for another 2 minutes, stirring gently.

Almond Crumble Preparation

  1. 9

    Mix Crumble Ingredients

In a bowl, combine almond flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. Mix until crumbly.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 10

    Combine and Bake

Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan. Top with the sautéed pears and their sauce. Sprinkle almond crumble evenly on top.

  2. 11

    Bake the Cake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  3. 12

    Cool and Serve

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
