Prepare the Water
Start by boiling 4 cups of water in a large pot. This will form the base of your ale.

Add Malted Barley
Once the water is boiling, remove the pot from heat and add 1 cup of malted barley. Stir well and let it steep for 30 minutes.

Add Hops
After 30 minutes, return the pot to low heat and add 2 tablespoons of hops. Allow the mixture to simmer for another 15 minutes.

Cool the Mixture
Remove the pot from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature. This should take about 20 minutes.

Add Yeast and Sugar
Once cooled, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of yeast and add 3 tablespoons of cane sugar to the mixture. Stir gently to combine.

Infuse Lemon Zest and Honey
Add 1 teaspoon of lemon zest and 1 tablespoon of honey to the mixture. Stir until the honey dissolves.

Add a Pinch of Salt
Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors and stir well.

Fermentation
Transfer the mixture into a sanitized fermentation vessel and seal it with an airlock. Let it ferment in a cool, dark place for about 7 days.
