Method

Chili Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

Add diced onion to the skillet with the beef and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  3. 3

    Add Spices and Tomatoes

Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Then add canned diced tomatoes and kidney beans (drained and rinsed). Mix well.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Chili

Reduce heat to low and let the chili simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

Hot Dog Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook the Hot Dogs

In a separate pot of boiling water, add the hot dogs and cook for about 5-7 minutes until heated through. Alternatively, grill or pan-fry the hot dogs for extra flavor.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the hot dog buns lightly on a grill or in the oven for added texture, if desired.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Assemble the Chili Dogs

Place each hot dog in a toasted bun. Top generously with the prepared chili, followed by shredded cheddar cheese and chopped onions.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the chili dogs immediately with any additional toppings of your choice, such as hot sauce or jalapeños.
