Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Steak

Thinly slice the ribeye steak against the grain into strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Prepare Vegetables

Slice the onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms into thin strips.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Vegetables

In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the sliced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the green bell pepper and mushrooms, and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the sliced ribeye steak and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook, stirring frequently, until the steak is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Return the cooked vegetables to the skillet with the steak and mix well. Allow to heat through for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  4. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Reduce heat to low. Add the Cheese Whiz and provolone cheese over the steak and vegetable mixture. Stir until the cheese is melted and everything is well combined.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Assemble the Cheesesteak

Slice the hoagie rolls down the middle without cutting all the way through. Fill each roll generously with the steak and cheese mixture.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the cheesesteaks hot, with optional toppings like hot peppers or ketchup, if desired.
