Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold running water, scrubbing the shells with a brush to remove any dirt or barnacles. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves.

  3. 3

    Chop the Parsley

Rinse the fresh parsley under cold water, dry it, and finely chop the leaves.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Skillet

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the clarified butter. Allow it to heat until it is hot but not smoking.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic and Seasonings

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 6

    Add Mussels

Carefully add the cleaned mussels to the skillet, ensuring they are evenly distributed. Cover the skillet with a lid.

  4. 7

    Cook Mussels

Cook the mussels for about 5-7 minutes or until they have opened up. Discard any mussels that remain closed.

  5. 8

    Finish with Lemon and Parsley

Squeeze the juice of the whole lemon over the mussels and sprinkle the chopped parsley on top. Stir gently to combine.
