Prepare and measure
Chill a coupe or rocks glass by filling with ice and set aside. Measure 2 oz Bacardi Superior, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup. Have fresh ice ready for shaking.

Shake
Discard the ice from the chilled glass. Add the measured rum, lime juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker. Add 6 ice cubes to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.

Strain and serve
If serving up (no ice): double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine-mesh strainer to remove ice shards. If serving on the rocks: add 4 fresh ice cubes to the rocks glass and strain the cocktail over the ice.

Garnish
Express the oils of a lime wheel over the surface of the drink by gently twisting it, then drop the wheel or rest a wedge on the glass rim. Serve immediately.
