Method

Preparation of Espresso

  1. 1

    Brew Espresso

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso and allow it to cool to room temperature.

Making the Filling

  1. 2

    Mix Egg Yolks and Sugar

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 4 egg yolks and 3 tablespoons of sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy.

  2. 3

    Add Mascarpone and Vanilla

Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the egg mixture until smooth.

  3. 4

    Whip Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture to keep it airy.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Dip Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso, making sure they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers, then spread half of the mascarpone filling over the ladyfingers.

  3. 8

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone filling.

  4. 9

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  5. 10

    Serve with Cocoa Powder

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
