Base Ingredients

Flavorings (choose one or rotate as desired)

Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until completely chilled.

Churning and Flavoring

  1. 3

    Churn the Ice Cream

Pour the chilled base mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Flavorings

When the ice cream is nearly finished churning, slowly add your chosen flavoring (chocolate syrup, strawberries, peanut butter, mint, or cookie dough pieces) to the ice cream maker. Allow it to mix in for another 5 minutes.

Freezing

  1. 5

    Transfer to Container

Spoon the churned ice cream into an airtight container. Use a spatula to smooth the top.

  2. 6

    Freeze

Cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
