Fried Mozzarella Sticks
Marinara Sauce
Method
Fried Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Take the mozzarella cheese sticks and freeze them for about 1 hour until firm.
- 2
Set Up Breading Station
In a shallow bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the milk. In a third shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs, grated parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- 3
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Cheese Sticks
Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, being sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Marinara Sauce
- 6
Cook the Garlic
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- 7
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
- 8
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 9
Serve the Sauce
Once the marinara sauce has thickened slightly, remove it from the heat and serve it warm alongside the fried mozzarella sticks.
