Pizza Dough

Method

Pizza Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly and Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

  2. 7

    Roll Out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch round.

  3. 8

    Add Tomato Sauce

Place the rolled-out dough on a pizza peel or a baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. 9

    Add Cheese

Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them evenly over the sauce. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.

  5. 10

    Add Fresh Basil

Scatter fresh basil leaves over the cheese, reserving some for garnishing after baking.

  6. 11

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  7. 12

    Finish the Pizza

Remove the pizza from the oven, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with additional fresh basil leaves. Let it cool for a couple of minutes before slicing.
