Burger Patty

Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties that are slightly larger than your burger buns.

  3. 3

    Chill the Patties

Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while cooking.

Make the BBQ Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.

  2. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cook the Burgers

  1. 6

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your outdoor grill or a stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.

  2. 7

    Grill the Patties

Place the chilled patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  3. 8

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of shredded cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 9

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill until golden brown.

  2. 10

    Add Toppings

Spread a generous amount of BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with the grilled burger patty, followed by sliced pickles, sliced red onions, and a lettuce leaf.

  3. 11

    Serve

Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
