Method
Preparation
- 1
Clean the Pig Tongue
Rinse the pig tongue under cold water to remove any impurities. Pat dry with paper towels.
- 2
Prepare Seasoning Mix
In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Set aside.
Cooking
- 3
Boil the Tongue
In a large pot, combine the water and white vinegar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the cleaned pig tongue to the boiling liquid.
- 4
Add Seasoning
Sprinkle the prepared seasoning mix over the pig tongue while it cooks. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
- 5
Simmer
Let the tongue simmer for about 2 to 3 hours, or until it is very tender. Check occasionally and add more water if necessary to keep it submerged.
- 6
Cool and Peel
Once cooked, remove the pot from heat. Let the tongue cool slightly, then carefully peel off the tough skin. It should come off easily.
- 7
Slice and Serve
Slice the tongue into small bite-sized pieces. Serve warm or at room temperature as a delicacy.
