Method
Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This ensures that the cake bakes evenly.
- 2
- 3
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted and smooth.
- 4
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- 5
Combine Wet Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- 6
Combine Mixtures
Slowly add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring continuously. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until fully combined.
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 8
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
- 9
Serve
Let the cakes cool for 1 minute, then carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Serve immediately, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
