Meatball and Sauce Ingredients
Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into large balls, about the size of a grapefruit. You should get approximately 5-6 big meatballs.
- 3
Sear the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and sear them on all sides until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- 4
Make the Pomodoro Sauce
In the same skillet, add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes.
- 5
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Return the meatballs to the skillet with the pomodoro sauce. Cover and let simmer for an additional 20-25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- 6
Serve
Serve the big ass meatballs over a bed of sauce, topped with grated Pecorino cheese. Accompany with slices of focaccia bread.
