Base Ingredients

Method

Prepare the Base

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Combine Coffee and Liqueur

In a shallow dish, mix the cooled espresso with 1 tablespoon of coffee liqueur.

  3. 3

    Soak the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish.

Make the Cream Mixture

  1. 4

    Prepare Egg Yolks

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

  2. 5

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese until smooth and well combined.

  3. 6

    Whip the Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

  4. 7

    Combine Mixtures

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.

Assemble and Chill

  1. 8

    Layer the Cream

Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the layer of ladyfingers.

  2. 9

    Add Second Layer

Repeat the process by soaking another layer of ladyfingers and placing it on top of the cream. Then spread the remaining mascarpone cream over the top.

  3. 10

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to let the flavors meld.

Serve

  1. 11

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.

  2. 12

    Garnish

Sprinkle dark chocolate shavings on top for an added touch.

  3. 13

    Slice and Enjoy

Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
