Method
Pork Belly Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork Belly
Rinse the pork belly under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
- 2
Season the Pork Belly
Rub the pork belly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed on both sides.
- 3
Sear the Pork Belly
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Once hot, place the pork belly skin-side down and sear for 5-7 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden.
- 4
Slow Cook the Pork Belly
Transfer the seared pork belly to a slow cooker. Pour apple cider vinegar and chicken broth over the top. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until tender.
Apple Sauce Preparation
- 5
- 6
Blend the Sauce
Remove the pot from heat and stir in lemon juice. Use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth. Alternatively, transfer to a blender in batches.
- 7
Serve
Let the apple sauce cool slightly before serving it alongside the slow-cooked pork belly.
