Method
Dough Preparation
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
Let it Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Assembly and Baking
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness, then transfer it to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
Add the Sauce
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Layer the Cheese and Pepperoni
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce, followed by an even layer of thick-cut pepperoni.
Bake the Pizza
Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
Cool and Serve
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
