Method

Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Peaches

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches, granulated sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss until the peaches are well coated. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow the sugar to draw out the juices from the peaches.

Topping Preparation

  1. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.

  2. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.

Assembling and Baking

  1. 4

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Assemble the Cobbler

Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Evenly pour the batter over the peach filling, making sure to cover as much of the filling as possible.

  3. 6

    Bake the Cobbler

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Cobbler

Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving. Scoop portions into bowls and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
