Method

Fried Chicken Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Dredging Station

In a shallow dish, add the all-purpose flour. Add additional salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to the flour and mix well.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Dredge and Fry the Chicken

Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, ensuring an even coating. Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil and fry for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on a skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place the fried chicken. Top with pickles and then add the top half of the bun. Press down gently.

Kool-Aid Pickle Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare the Kool-Aid Pickles

In a bowl, mix together the Kool-Aid powder and sugar. Pour in the water and stir until dissolved. Pour this mixture into the jar of pickles, ensuring they are completely submerged. Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.
