Method
Fried Chicken Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are completely submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, coating thoroughly. Fry the chicken in the hot oil for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Sandwich Assembly
- 4
Toast the Buns
While the chicken is frying, toast the burger buns in a separate skillet until golden brown.
- 5
Assemble the Sandwich
Place a piece of fried chicken on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with pickles and cover with the top half of the bun.
Kool-Aid Pickles Preparation
- 6
Prepare the Kool-Aid Pickles
In a large bowl, combine the jar of dill pickles, Kool-Aid powder, and sugar. Stir until the sugar and Kool-Aid are fully dissolved. Let the pickles sit for at least 24 hours in the refrigerator to absorb the flavors.
