Preparation
Prepare the Glass
Chill a rocks glass by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes or filling it with ice water.
Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, add the Uncle Nearest 1884 whiskey, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters.
Add Ice
Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes and stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds to chill and dilute it.
Strain the Mixture
Remove the chilled rocks glass from the freezer or discard the ice water, and strain the mixture into the glass over fresh ice.
Garnish the Drink
Twist the orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then place it on the rim of the glass. Add the maraschino cherry for garnish.
