Method

Chicken Preparation

1

Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

2

Prepare the Breading

In another bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

3

Coat the Chicken

Take the marinated chicken out of the refrigerator. Dip each piece into the seasoned flour, making sure to coat all sides evenly. Shake off any excess flour.

4

Fry the Chicken

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated chicken pieces. Fry for about 12-15 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove and drain on paper towels.

Waffle Preparation

5

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

6

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

7

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

8

Cook the Waffles

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once ready, pour the recommended amount of batter onto the hot waffle iron and close the lid. Cook until golden brown and crisp, usually about 5 minutes.
