Prepare the Mussels
Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells with a brush to remove any debris. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.

Add Tomatoes and Wine
Add the cherry tomatoes to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften. Pour in the chardonnay and stir to combine.

Steam the Mussels
Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and cover with a lid. Steam for about 5-7 minutes until the mussels have opened. Discard any mussels that remain closed.

Finish and Serve
Stir in the fresh basil leaves, salt, and black pepper. Serve the garlic mussels hot with some of the broth and crusty bread on the side.
