Classic Daiquiri

Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri (optional variation, makes 1)

Method

Classic Daiquiri

1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass by filling with ice and cold water while you mix the drink, or place in the freezer for 10–15 minutes.

2

Measure and combine

Add 2 oz white rum, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.75 oz simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.

4

Strain and serve

Discard the ice from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine-mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and pulp for a silky texture.

5

Garnish

Garnish with a lime wheel or twist on the rim or floated on top. Serve immediately.

Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri (optional variation)

6

Prepare blender

Chill a hurricane or large coupe glass in the freezer while you blend to keep the frozen daiquiri cold longer.

7

Combine ingredients in blender

Add 2 oz white rum, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, 1 cup frozen strawberries, and 1 cup ice into a blender.

8

Blend

Pulse on low once to break up large chunks, then blend on high for 10–20 seconds until smooth and slushy. Adjust texture: add more ice for thicker or a splash of water/rum for looser consistency.

9

Taste and adjust

Taste and add a little more simple syrup if needed for sweetness or a touch more lime juice for brightness. Blend briefly to incorporate adjustments.

10

Serve and garnish

Pour the frozen daiquiri into the chilled glass. Garnish with a strawberry or lime wedge and a straw. Serve immediately.
