Salmon Filet

Method

Preparing the Salmon

  1. 1

    Season the Salmon

Rub the salmon filets with olive oil, then sprinkle the five spice powder and salt evenly over the top.

  2. 2

    Sear the Salmon

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon filets skin-side down. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until cooked to your preferred doneness.

Making the Miso Herb Butter

  1. 3

    Prepare the Miso Butter

In a bowl, mix the softened unsalted butter, white miso paste, chopped chives, chopped parsley, and lime juice until well combined.

  2. 4

    Top the Salmon

Once the salmon is cooked, remove from the skillet and top each filet with a generous spoonful of the miso herb butter, allowing it to melt over the warm salmon.

Cooking the Vegetable Fried Rice

  1. 5

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the salmon, add a bit more oil if needed, then add the diced carrot and cook for about 2 minutes. Add the peas and chopped green onion, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  2. 6

    Add the Rice and Flavor

Add the cooked jasmine rice to the skillet, breaking up any clumps. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil, mixing well. Push the rice to one side of the skillet.

  3. 7

    Scramble the Egg

Pour the beaten egg into the cleared side of the skillet and scramble it until fully cooked. Mix it into the rice and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Plate the Dish

On each plate, serve a generous portion of the vegetable fried rice and top it with the seared salmon filet dressed with miso herb butter.
