Method
Frying Directions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari tubes under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Slice the tubes into rings.
- 2
Make the Breading
In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- 3
Coat the Calamari
Dip the calamari rings into the buttermilk, then dredge them in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
- 5
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the breaded calamari rings in batches to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried calamari from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your choice of sweet & spicy Thai chili sauce or zesty marinara.
