Dough

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (1.5 cups) and sugar (1 tsp). Sprinkle the active dry yeast (2 tsp) over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour (4 cups) and salt (1 tbsp). Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil (2 tbsp).

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil (1 tbsp) over medium heat. Add minced garlic (2 tbsp) and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add canned crushed tomatoes (1 can), dried oregano (1 tsp), salt (1 tsp), and black pepper (0.5 tsp). Simmer for 15 minutes.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your wood-fired pizza oven according to the manufacturer's instructions (usually around 700°F / 370°C).

  2. 7

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer to a floured surface. Divide into two equal portions. Roll out one portion into a large circle, about 12-14 inches in diameter.

  3. 8

    Add Sauce

Spread a portion of the prepared sauce over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. 9

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese (3 cups) evenly over the sauce. Add desired toppings such as pepperoni slices (1 cup), bell peppers (1 cup), mushrooms (1 cup), and fresh basil leaves (0.5 cups).

  5. 10

    Bake Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated wood-fired oven and bake for about 5-7 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 11

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, slice, and serve immediately.
